I love taking photos of people when they don't know they're being photographed. They're more natural, they have real expressions and there's real life behind it. What I like even more is the shot just after they realize they're being photographed. Some people ignore you. Some people do something goofy for the camera. Others react like they've just been the butt of a joke.
This is one of my favorite pairs of photos of my good friend Ettay. We're in NYC getting some lunch and she was fully concentrated on filling her bowl up with tabbouleh. Its perfect movement from my "Hey Ettay" to her "Oh Garth." Its a real reaction and it is full of her personality which is why I love it.
I would probably get this same face if she saw this posted but luckily she doesn't read my blog!
