I was listening to Cibo Matto today for the first time in a while. Viva La Woman has a great video for Sugar Water by Michel Gondry that I had to watch again when that song came on:
I found this video on Today and Tomorrow. When I was 15 I strapped two bottle rockets together to effect a bottle rocket tug-of-war. They were too close though and essentially just exploded. This is the same type of this vs that fight that every 15 year old has probably dreamed about:
I had three different mixes of this song on repeat last night while I worked on a Burningman project. I don't get that obsessive over songs that much, but I was really enjoying it and it was good to work with. Plus its sung by Erlend ye of Whitest Boy Alive and Kings of Convenience, who I've always enjoyed.
I found the video for it today and now its even that much more awesome. I love how the details fall into place around the action, suggesting purpose, intent and meaning through purely analytical representations of the world. Its so similar to the Slagsmlsklubben video that I have to think it was made by the same people.
Take 4 minutes out of your day and watch. Happy Friday!

Continuing with the theme of 90's Chicago punk, here's Pegboy's Strong Reaction which seems to have almost exactly the same video as the Naked Raygun song. I guess when you're angry, you want to express yourself in black and white, throwing yourself off the stage and vandalizing property:
